Project Description: With direct beachfront access and stunning views over Blacks Beach and the nearby Whitsunday Islands, ‘The Driftwood Residences’ is one of Mackay’s most prestigious developments comprising 48 units over two buildings with resort style communal facilities including swimming pool and BBQ area surrounded by dense tropical gardens. The facility comprises a mix of 1 bedroom, 1+study and 2 bedroom apartments aimed at the residential and short term accommodation market.
Highgate’s role: Development and Project Management
Highgate has been providing development and project management services to Future Estate since the project’s inception in 2012. Highgate through a consultative approach with Council were instrumental in working up a commercially viable concept scheme. Highgate has been responsible for the procurement and appointment of the consultant team, design development through to MCU (DA) documentation and subsequent management of the approvals and BA documentation stages. Highgate’s current role is to provide ongoing development and project management services for this premier development including procurement through negotiated tender of the D&C contractor and execution of the main building contract.
Status/Completion: Development Consent achieved in late October 2012. Contractor procurement to be finalised in October 2015 subject to funding approval.
